05.11.2015 Multiculturalism

Task 1

I have visited many places wit different cultures, to give an example, Sicily. The main differences between Norway and Sicily are the driving regulations. In Norway there are pages upon pages talking about what you can and cannot do whilst in a car on the road. On the other hand, the Sicily government seems to have given up. The last time we were there, we had to wait for five minutes for an opening over the road. There is zero control, none at all.  The only norm I noticed is that you always drive faster than the person behind you. The cars were not the issue, Sicily is not as rich as Norway, and not everyone can afford a car. Imagine this: fifty scooters trying to get through one bottleneck by bobbing and weaving past each other. It was maddening.

Sundbyfoss is honestly not very multicultural at all. It's a small place in the middle of nowhere, so there are basically no immigrants there.

There is way more immigration to Norway  than emigration, because Norway's a rich country, why would you want to be anywhere else?

Task 2

1. Norwegian immigration has been going on since the conjugation of Norway around 900 a.d.. Norway has always been attractive to immigrants, whether it's because of our oil today or our fish and wood resources previously. Later, during the industrial revolution, Norway needed more professionals in the field. The professionals were majorly from Germany, and the industry in Kongsberg and Røros were made with their help. Ever since we found oil the immigration numbers have skyrocketed, and between 2002 and 2015 the numbers have doubled (approximate eyeballing by looking at this model https://www.ssb.no/befolkning/statistikker/innvbef ).

2. There are many more immigrants in Britain as compared to Noway, because they have throughout the last 60 years gotten immigrants from all over the world, from Jamaica to Eastern Europa. The immigrants that come to Norway normally go directly into the big cities such as Tønsberg and Oslo. Refugees from The Middle East immigrate a lot in today's world, however, there are also a lot of people looking for work.
